Posted on FB by Stephen from Rockhampton:  “Our beautiful Chilolo ridgeback Max on the 7th of June was very sadly laid to rest only a couple of weeks from his 12th birthday.

He grew up with our 2 children and was the most loved and adorable pet anyone could ask for. He is sorely missed.”

Max was from our Minty – Cracker litter born 29 June 2014.  It is always so sad when they leave us but our sincere thanks to Stephen and his family for giving Max such a wonderful home for the past 12 years.

Babies are all doing really well and have extended their rotation time to 3-4 hours so I get a bit more sleep!!

Tuku wanted to come out for a run today and she is also doing really well with lots of milk.

30 June

So Tuku didn’t make her due date of Thursday. She decided she had had enough yesterday morning and because she was so big I decided on an elective Caesarian.

She ended up with 7 girls and 5 boys, all ridged and not much white. Quite a range in colors. Tuku had a bit of drama after I picked her up as she had a small bleed from her surgery. Luckily it was not internal and looked much worse than it actually was.

She has a bandage overnight which will come off back at the vet today.

I have divided them into 6 and 6 and am rotating them on her about every 2 hours for the first few days to make sure they all get a good start. So far so good!

Once again many thanks to Ron Newland at Ice Age Breeding for not only another successful TCI but continuing with big litter numbers. Ron’s expertise and experience is much appreciated!

Last weekend I did 4 shows with my girl
Brandi (Ch Chilolo TRL Tennessee Gold) with results as follows:

Friday Kalbar Ag judge Mrs V Schneider -
best of breed and Runner Up In Group (15 points)

Saturday Qld kennel council show 1 at Durack judge Mr E Pickering
- best of breed and runner up in group over multi BIS winners (18 points because there was a big entry of 16 RRs so breed points was bigger than RUBIG points)

Saturday show 2 - judge Mrs R Ralphs -
best of breed (18 points)

Sunday QKC Judge Mrs S Phillips -
best of breed and best open in group (11 points)

So a grand total of 62 points for the weekend and that much closer to her supreme title  So happy with my girl.  And, as if that wasn’t enough, I bought a raffle ticket for $2 and won $50!!!
23 June

So on my return home, there is no doubt that Tuku is pregnant!!
15 June

Received this lovely pic and message from Sally who has Marnus from our Triska – Caelum litter. Sally writes:

“Thought I would share this sweet photo.  Marnus hangs out in Thomas’s room every night while I read books and Tommy falls asleep”
10 June

My last day in the US.
8 June

While on holiday with Emma in the US, we went to a weekend of shows in Kansas. Emma and Kaos took out a Group 1 (Best In Hound Group) and a Group 4 over the weekend and also did a couple of really good runs in the Fast Cat.

This is a straight sprint race and each dog runs on his/her own and is timed. Kaos had a time of 7.5 seconds on his second run!

A throw back photo of my gorgeous daughter, Emma, in Alabama with Player, one of her favourites who sadly is no longer with her.

31 May

Well done to Julie and
Samara (Nikki – Chatter) at the Lockyer Valley KC shows today taking out Runner Up Neuter in Group today.
18 May

Once again
Brandi does me proud with Best In Group Number 10!! Really on the downhill run for her Supreme title with only points to amass now.

For those who are not familiar with a Supreme Champion title, the requirements are 1000 points plus either 3 x Best In Show or 10 x Best In Group awards all at championship level.

The points are just a long slog but the group wins are not easy for a breed that is often overlooked at group level as they are not flash and dash!
April 2026

24/26 April

Very happy with last weekend's results for my young girl, Brandi (Aust Ch Chilolo TRL Tennessee Gold) who followed her 2 x Runner Up In Group awards from the previous weekend with:

  • Friday am - BEST IN GROUP (25pts) under Mr R Watson (Tasmania)

  • Friday pm - R/U BOB (11pts) under Mrs D Dryburgh (NSW)

  • Saturday - R/U BOB (12pts) under Mrs P Hartwell (NSW)

  • Sunday - Reserve In Group (16pts) under Mrs H Morrison (Tas)

Good to see 14 RRs entered with several taking out class in group awards.

Brandi has another 64 points and another group towards a Supreme title. Adding up points seems to give a purpose to showing!

19 April

Lovely day for RRs at Redcliffe KC Show on Sunday with Brandi taking out Runner Up In Hound Group, Lainey Best Baby Puppy In Group and 2nd in a big all breeds 3-6 month sweepstakes class, Elsa (bred by Julie David) awarded Best Minor Puppy in Group and her mum, Samara (bred by us) was Runner Up Neuter In Group. Always good to see a judge who appreciates the breed!

Brandi (Aust Ch Chilolo TRL Tennessee Gold) is well on her way to her Supreme Champion title and has done so well taking out either Best in Group or Runner Up In Group at her last few shows.

And to prove Chilolo RRs are functional as well as beautiful I have just received Samara's most recent certificate for Novice Sprint Dog title.

Samara's litter brother Sarsha with Ricki Smith gained his Advanced Sprint Dog title (pending DQ approval) last weekend Well done Julie and Samara and Ricki and Sarsha

17 April

Brandi was awarded another Runner Up Best in Hound Group at Nanango today.

She is well on the way to her Supreme Champion title and has only just turned 2 years of age.

Another lovely email from one of our puppy owners. This is from Therese at Katherine in the Northern Territory who has Edie from our Triska and Luka litter born in March 2024:

“Clayton was out working in the yard while I was cooking and I went out to find this. Must have been too much for them both and Edie just loves a good nap”
18 April

Lovely FB post from Kelly in Brisbane about Zelda, her Bubbles – Nikki puppy:  “You might think Zelda was rolling around when I took this photo.

Nope. She’s asleep. Fast asleep, completely still. That’s how she sleeps”
18 April

And another one from Karyn in Melbourne who has Ruby from our Holly – Herc litter born in 2018.

Apparently Ruby is a regular at the local Coffee Club!

Litter brothers at 7 years of age from Chatter and Nikki.

Sasha lives with Ricky in Brisbane and has done extremely well at lure coursing and now is excelling at Sprint Dog races.

Joey lives with us and, believe it or not, he is an excellent hunter and finds quail, ducks and hares by using his excellent sense of smell but despite his talent as a hunter, he is more than happy to while away the house on the couch!

Nice way to start the year!!

Pic is Brandi cooling off in the dam after we got home.
January 2026
January

This is such a sad story.

Cayce lives locally and bought Obi from us. Obi was from our Bubbles and Caelum litter born 9 March 2024.

Cayce took Obi out one night for her usual last outing before going to bed and, unbeknownst to Cayce, a snake must have bitten Obi.

The following morning Obi was very sick and despite Cayce rushing her to an emergency vet, they could not save her.

Cayce sent me these pics of Obi’s grave.
25 January

Lovely photos sent through from Jon and Ana who have Zulu.

Zulu is from our Chatter – Solar litter born June 2020 and obviously has the best home!!
01 January

On 23 November last year Triska had 11 puppies to Caelum and they have now all gone to their new homes.

We are so blessed to have such wonderful families taking our puppies home!

Here are some photos with the puppies being collected by their new families.

Without exception they have all settled in very well.
